A surprisingly normal Saturday

Today was one of the first days since all of this begun that felt somewhat 'normal' I've been able to get around today without the crutches, which also meant that I could more fully participate in household activities.

We had some mundanity like washing dishes, laundry, and doing some house cleaning. But we were also able to do a bunch of fun weekend stuff - I baked cookies (check out this recipe, it's spectacular), we took the kids outside to ride their scooters, we built with legos, we dyed eggs (we don't celebrate Easter, but dying eggs is fun.) My wife made a fantastic gumbo for dinner, which was a treat - I usually do most of the cooking, but when she has time she can really put something together...

Sadly one other 'normal' thing is that my daughter was acting out a LOT today. I'm not sure what we can do about it. I know that she's going through all the same stuff we are, and that I should cut her a break, but we need to find some kind of balance.  Right now she has no respect for our authority, which is causing a lot of problems for us. I expected this when she's 12, not when she's 7...

I was hoping we could sleep upstairs tonight, but with all that stuff I mentioned, we didn't get our acts together to move all the stuff we need before it was time to take the kids to bed. So that might need to wait until tomorrow.

My knee is pretty sore now after a day of behaving as if I don't need crutches, but I managed ok and I was able to do all of my exercises without problem. I was even able to get in an hour on my exercise bike. I'm resting it right now and it seems like it should be fine.
