A little gardening
I have calla lilies and dahlias to plant this weekend, and my tulips are finally up. This is great for a number of reasons, but a big one is that it gives me something to photograph besides my kids (who are completely sick of it.)
I'm excited to get into the garden, but also a little nervous, I'm not sure how much bending I can do with my knee in its current condition, so we'll see how it goes. We also live on a pretty busy street so there are a lot of pedestrians. I realize that we'll all be keeping our distance but I'm still more comfortable in the house. Nevertheless it will be a good excuse to get outside and doing something. The kids can goof around in the backyard while I plant.
I had been thinking about trying to get over to the garden center to get some annuals sometime this weekend, we'll see if that actually happens. I'm also not 100% sure they are open...
Just getting outside to take pictures earlier was terrific - I went out once very early in the morning before the flowers had opened, and again in the afternoon, so I was able to get a variety of images from just a few flowers. (There's a few dozen in my yard, but most aren't quite open yet.)
I also just discovered that this blog has pretty decent photo support, who knew? I hadn't tried to put any media into it until just now, so I am quite pleasantly surprised by how nice these look in here.
Edit: I did make it out to the garden to plant those callas and dahlias. It's getting low on available planting space out there; the neighbor's ivy is taking over and most of the sunny spots have tulips or daffodils growing at the moment. My kids 'helped' which was sort-of nice, and it was good to be outside working with my hands. My knee didn't really get in the way.
